The Georgia Scouts Association extends its condolences to the family and friends of legendary coach Mike Hurst. Coach Hurst’s impact touched many lives, and his legacy will live on in the Georgia baseball community.

Coach Hurst may be best known for his run at the helm of Georgia State’s renewed baseball program in the early 90s. During his time at Georgia State, Hurst accrued 293 wins.

As great as Mike Hurst was a baseball coach and teacher of the game, he was an even better person," Georgia State baseball head coach Brad Stromdahl said. "For nearly the last 30 years, he was an incredible ambassador for our baseball program. He touched so many lives and will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Carol and his family.

Aside from his time building a Division 1 program, Coach Hurst was known in the community for guiding young players and helping kids achieve their goals of playing in college. He coached with East Cobb baseball, shepherding many great players on to higher levels over the years.

Coach Mike Hurst was a great edition to the East Cobb Baseball coaching staff for many years. Mike’s expertise and passion for the game made ECB a better program. He was truly a player’s coach and loved by all who had the honor to play under him. He was one of a kind with his positivity, energy and ability to make every single player feel important. Mike will truly be missed. Condolences go out to his family. - Kevin & Guerry Baldwin
